Botanical Enlightenment Castor Oil

Made by our family’s company, Botanical Enlightenment, this organic castor oil is cold-pressed and bottled with care. Castor oil has been treasured in folk medicine for centuries, valued for its soothing, moisturizing, and restorative qualities. It has been used topically to soften skin, nourish hair, and support the body’s natural processes of circulation and cleansing.

One of the most traditional ways to work with castor oil is through a castor oil wrap, a method that has been passed down through generations of herbal practice. To make a wrap, saturate a piece of clean flannel or cotton with castor oil until it is thoroughly soaked but not dripping. Place the cloth over the area you would like to treat, often the abdomen or lower back. Cover it with a piece of plastic or beeswax wrap, then add a heating pad or hot water bottle on top to gently warm the oil and help it penetrate. Relax for 30 to 60 minutes while the wrap does its work. The same cloth can be reused several times, simply adding more oil as needed.
