Reason and Tracing the Lines of Belief

Reason and Tracing the Lines of Belief

Danielle Lynn

The mind is a partnership. One part of us is able to weigh, compare, and choose. It can move in two directions of reasoning. Inductive reasoning takes in patterns and builds ideas from what's observed. Deductive reasoning takes a premise as truth and works outward, applying it to whatever follows. Together, they are the tools of discernment, helping us decide what to believe and how to act.

The subconscious mind, however, does not share this choice-making ability. It can't weigh or question. It only receives and carries out what it is given. If belief is placed within, the subconscious treats that belief as law, shaping thoughts, emotions, and even the body in service to it. This is why the precision of what we choose to believe matters so deeply.

When people are handed a faulty premise and take it as fact, their reasoning follows in lockstep. Even a brilliant mind, when rooted in a false seed, will carry that seed forward as though it were truth, this is simply how the mechanism works.

The invitation, then, is to tend to our premises with care. To notice what we are handing over to the subconscious, knowing it will take our word as final. When we choose wisely, aligning belief with what is life-giving and true, the subconscious becomes a powerful ally. Like fertile soil, it will grow whatever is planted. The question is, are we planting weeds or medicine?
